The glacier is home
Many ways home series sculpture
Can be hung on the wall or placed on a shelf
Mixed media - photography, painting and found objects
These small sculptural works are an intersection of many of my styles of work. They are the center of my work and speak to ideas of home – where we feel at home, how the landscape around us creates a home, the body as home, the spirit as home, childhood memories of home and displacement from home. On a larger scale these works relate to the climate crisis and the realization that the earth is home and the emotions that surround witnessing it’s deterioration. The layered photographic images are taken in places of strong memory for me. But they are also intended to relate to a common memory. I am exploring ideas of nostalgia, the loss of memory and the building of fables and our desperate want to hold onto good memories to fill ourselves.
